On the 22nd of May we celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity, and we believe this is an important subject that we should talk about more oftenly. Each year a theme is chosen, this year’s theme is Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism. We could not let this pass by, as Juma Lodge is known as one of the most sustainable hotels in the Amazon Rainforest.
“When we talk about biodiversity, species and ecosystems, we talk about an important foundation for many aspects of tourism.” We could not agree more to this statement. The forest is the most important thing to us. We have built Juma Lodge the way we have to help preserve this unique environment. If you’re interested you can read more about it here: Juma Lodge – Sustainability in the Amazon Rainforest.
We take this moment to also underpin the importance of attractive landscapes and rich biodiversity to tourism economies and to the fact that a well-managed tourism sector can do a lot to reducing threats to key wildlife populations and biodiversity values through tourism revenue. It works as a circle! At least here, in the Amazon Rainforest, the more we take care of our beautiful environment, the more we’ll receive tourists that respect, understand and pay for the experience of getting to see this beauty so close.
We recycle most of our waste and always choose sustainable options for our daily routines.
